Tuesday May 6, 2008
Another great Columbia Toastmasters meeting! We were in the "big" room - which was good because we enjoyed good member attendance...
Karen reminded everyone that it's time to vote for officers for the upcoming new TM year. If you are interested, please send contact Karen.
Maurice led us in a table topics session devoted to Mother's Day. He had prepared thought-provoking topics that were well-addressed by the participants.
April 15 - Word of the Day
Our Grammarian of the day - Will - gave us this word to add to our vocabulary:
Epiphany..
A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden, intense intuitive realization.
The woman experienced an epiphany that she had to break off the engagement when she suddenly realized that she did not love the man she was engaged to.
April 15 Meeting notes
We met in the small conference room in the hospital complex. It is really surprising how much difference the room setting makes to the tone of the meeting!
Phil led Table Topics for the first time, he decided to use the presidental political race for his theme and had some very good questions for the participants!
We had one speaker for the evening. Sherri did her second project in the basic communications and leadership manual and did a great job!
March 18, 2008 Meeting Notes
Our meeting room was shifted again, but, thanks to our President's wife stepping in, we had our materials and everyone was directed to the alternate location - with the meeting only starting a few minutes late.
We were pleased to accept 2 new member applications at the meeting! Welcome to Mary and Bo!
Sherri led us in a very good table topics session. Columbia Toastmasters come up with GREAT ideas for Table Topics!
Sonya moved one step closer to earning her Competent Communicator doing a speech about parenting and becoming a god-parent.
March 4 - Word of the Day
Astonished.. amazed, surprised..
Allen was astonished at the number of visitors at the meetig this evening!
March 4 - Meeting notes
We had a GREAT meeting tuesday evening. We had 7 guests, counting our visting Area Governor. At the end of the meeting, 3 of the guests submitted applications to join!
We enjoyed 2 speakers, Sherri gave her ice-breaker speech and Mel gave a speech from the Advanced "Entertaining Speaker" manual.
The TableTopics session was interesting and challenging. We were given a choice of a number of pictures and had to make up a story about the picture.
